Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Japan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov held talks with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Iwaya Takeshi, who arrived in our country on an official visit.

As part of the visit, the Japanese delegation visited Samarkand, where the Minister experienced not only the centuries-old cultural heritage, but also with its vibrant economic potential, promising areas of cooperation, and projects being implemented with the active participation of Japanese companies.

The head of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy department expressed confidence that interregional partnership between our countries has broad potential, especially in the field of business ties and investment interaction.

An important event of the visit was the holding of the first strategic dialogue at the level of foreign ministers, which opens a new page in the history of Uzbek–Japanese relations.

The parties noted the successful implementation of a number of big projects in such key areas as the chemical industry and energy. At the same time, it was emphasized that IT, transport, the mining industry, “green” energy and other promising areas remain of high interest for further cooperation.

Following the talks, the foreign ministers signed a Joint communiquе on the strategic dialogue between the ministries, which will contribute to strengthening bilateral ties in all dimensions — from political and economic interaction to the fields of education and humanitarian contacts.
