A working visit of the Uzbek delegation to Kazan took place: The focus is on labor migration and expanding cooperation with Tatarstan

 

On July 14, the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olimjon Abdullayev, during a working visit to the Volga Federal District, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.

During the negotiations, special attention was paid to the issues of labor migration, creating favorable conditions for Uzbek citizens working in Tatarstan, as well as expanding cooperation in the economic, educational, and cultural spheres.

The Chairman of Tatarstan emphasized that the contribution of labor migrants from Uzbekistan to the development of the region's economy is highly valued in the republic, and confirmed readiness to continue systematic work to ensure their legal and social protection.

The Uzbek side, in turn, expressed gratitude for the attention paid by the leadership of Tatarstan to migration issues and noted that Uzbekistan is interested in the development of safe, regulated, and legal labor migration.
The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in the following areas:
• development of support mechanisms for migrants, including information centers and consultation platforms;
• recognition of qualifications and expansion of vocational education for labor migrants;
• cooperation in the field of economics, investment and logistics;
• strengthening humanitarian ties, including cultural events, academic exchanges, and youth programs.

Mutual interest was also expressed in intensifying direct contacts between the regions of Uzbekistan and Tatarstan, developing fraternal ties and joint business platforms.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain regular dialogue and strengthen partnership relations, contributing to the further development of Uzbek-Russian strategic cooperation.

In particular, the parties agreed to create a working group to develop mechanisms to counter illegal migration and to contribute to increasing the volume of organized recruitment of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan for work in the Republic of Tatarstan. An agreement was also reached to adopt a “Roadmap” for taking joint measures to implement the agreements reached.

Also obtained the consent of the Human Rights Commissioner of the Republic of Tatarstan, S.Kh. Saburskaya, to post contact numbers on the Consulate General's website to provide prompt legal assistance to citizens of Uzbekistan.
