Negotiations with the Special Representative of Pakistan for Afghanistan

 

On January 23, 2024, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Special Representative of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for Afghanistan Asif Durrani.

The sides exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan and the efforts of the international community, as well as the two countries, to expand cooperation in the Afghan direction.

They also discussed ongoing transport and communication projects in Afghanistan, in particular, the construction of the Termez – Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railway line, which, according to the Pakistani side, is of key importance in the implementation of the concept of regional interconnectedness.

The parties expressed mutual interest in developing joint actions to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, as well as to promote the peaceful development of the country.
